Feature Friday | Jacklyn + Heather | Downtown Baton Rouge

Being a part of large wedding parties is something that we are accustomed to but one thing that we have particular experience is are same sex weddings and the unique logistics that they entail. Will you get ready together or not? How will you do prep when both sides want to feel beautiful and what does that mean to both of you?

Jacklyn and Heather did a great job talking through the planning process with us to make sure that they both got to hang out with their bridal parties while getting ready but NOT seeing one another. We worked out a solution to use 2 different locations in the same hotel and bridal party members coordinated the brides missing one another while moving through the building and it worked out perfectly!

How did you meet?

Jaclyn and I met at work.  We work for direct competitors and were both in Florida at an office where a mutual friend introduced us.

What is one thing you wish you would have known pre-wedding? If you do write your own vows make sure they are printed (We did this) and not on your phone but then take it a step further and keep the printed copies you read off of

The Proposal :

It was our anniversary and I had asked Jaclyn to get me a jewelry box because she had gotten me a pair of diamond earrings for my birthday earlier that year and I didn't have a safe place to keep them.  When I opened the jewelry box there was an engagement ring inside.

I was sitting in our living room wearing polar bear pajama pants and in the middle of cooking dinner, we always stay in and I make shrimp alfredo on our anniversary.  Shortly after i went into my closet and brought out the ring I had purchased 6 months earlier, waiting for her to propose.

What did you choose to do as your favors?Custom Chapstick and Koozies

Did you incorporate any wedding traditions from you or your partners families?

We used the Cake knife from my sisters wedding and I (Heather) also had lace from my mothers wedding dress wrapped around my bouquet.

What made you choose where you got married? The atmosphere of the Trademark is fabulous and Rebecca is the very best at clarifying details and giving us exactly what we envisioned.

Our ceremony was very short and included an apache blessing, we also wrote our own vows. My vows were actually written in 2018, well before we were engaged.

Words of Advice for future brides?

Tip everyone at the beginning of the day or let someone you trust take care of it.  Otherwise you will be like us and have to track everyone down after.....#BrideFail
