New Orleans Classic | Elise D | The Moore
I’m so excited to share Elise’s wedding since we have had the pleasure of doing her sister’s wedding and soon her other sister’s wedding! The team at Unique Weddings moved with incredible speed after the announcements of shut downs for COVID-19 so that Elise could still have the wedding of her dreams. Elise’s original wedding date was in March of 2020 but had to be scaled down for a postponed celebration later that year. We are so happy that we were able to be a part of the day and that Brocato Photography captured so many special moments for this wonderfully sweet bride.
Nothing was gonna stand in the way of their love story
New Orleans is known for its vibrant culture, rich history, and festive street parties. It is also a popular wedding destination, but COVID-19 forced many couples to postpone their big day. Their wedding, originally scheduled for 2020, was finally celebrated in style at the Moore Venue . They exchanged vows in front of their closest friends and family members, who were thrilled to be able to celebrate this long-awaited moment with them.
How did you meet?
A decade ago, I went to an LSU away game in College Station, TX against Texas A&M with my sorority sisters. Will spent the day driving from Galveston to College Station and tailgating with his friends. After the game, Will spotted his friends, who were coincidentally my sorority sisters. We walked as a group to a local bar & as we were waiting around, I struck up conversation with Will. We spent the rest of the night two-stepping, eating pizza, and hanging out with our mutual friends. We exchanged phone numbers at the end of the night, then went to our respective cities after an eventful weekend. After several trips between Baton Rouge & Galveston for both of us, we officially started dating!
The Proposal
One day in January, Will planned a date to take me on the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen on the Mississippi River, cocktails at the Carousel Bar, and a romantic dinner at Italian Barrel. After dinner, as we walked through the French Quarter, Will proposed to me under the gazebo in Woldenberg Park. We ended the evening celebrating at Tableau with a few close friends & family. It was the perfect day!
Did you incorporate any wedding traditions from you or your partners families?
We were both raised in Catholic families, so we decided to get married in the Catholic Church. My uncle was actually the priest that married us!
What made you choose where you got married?
We were originally scheduled (pre-covid) to have our wedding in New Orleans but switched to the Moore once we decided to postpone the wedding. Our catering company, 12 Seasons, owned The Moore venue and it was the perfect location for our downscaled event
What did you choose to do as your favors?
Mini Hand Sanitizer bottles lol
Words of Advice for future brides?
Not everything will go as planned, but it just might end up being better than your original plan!
The night was filled with laughter, music, and delicious New Orleans cuisine. It was a testament to the resilience and love of this couple, and a reminder that even amidst difficult times, there is always a reason to celebrate.
