Give me ALL the Goth Glam in New Orleans for this stunning wedding at the Pharmacy Museum. It’s no wonder this perfectly styled wedding (by the wonderful Alchemy Events) was featured on Green Wedding Shoes. As soon as the images were shared with us from The Swansons I RAN to post some of our favs!

When the requested dress code is “Creative Formal” you KNOW the couple is going to look FABULOUS! Devin wore a custom Red Velvet Suit with Capricorn Cufflinks, leather bowtie, wearable floral adornment, red velvet shoes to match the suit and of course the best smile!

Liz’s Custom Gold Art Deco Gown - the Gatsby Dress by Sew Romantic Designs (the designer) with a Crown, Shoes Earrings and wedding rings, heirloom art deco bracelet and wearable floral backpiece.

What did you choose to do as your favors and did you incorporate any wedding traditions from you or your partners families?

We did custom doubloons! Also our second line hankies were custom with our logo.

Not much. We did stomp the glass for my side of the family, but for the most part we made our own traditions.

What were your special details or parts of the wedding that were specific to you?

We did pastries instead of a cake including a huge snake made of pan suisse and raspberry pastry cream! We prioritized candles over florals. We had "creative black tie" as our dress code to encourage over the top attire.

The Proposal

I (Liz) take Devin to Nola for his birthday every year, so it’s become sort of “our” place. When we were sitting at Cane & Table a couple years ago I turned to him and said, “you know a wedding doesn’t have to be a huge thing in a hotel or a giant stuffy event. We could just throw The Best party for our friends and loved ones. Rent out Cane & Table, and show them best of New Orleans, even!” And Devin went “Really?? Ok!” Annnnd that was basically the proposal. Perfectly us.

Words of Advice for future brides?

“Start your own traditions instead of feeling obligated to enact old ones. The wedding day/weekend is yours to make into your own so do some things to make yourself happy!
