Tip Tuesday : Southern vs Destination Beauty | What to ask you're beauty team if your NOT from La
When chatting with destination brides something I always ask is "Where are your from?" and "Where did you grow up?" - it seems silly that this would be so important but I firmly believe that the environment you grow up in is what defines your version of pretty.
One of the reasons that we do phone consultations with all of our brides is to get to know their style and a little about their personality. I want to know where you are coming in from for your destination wedding because beauty isn't one size fits all. My brides from L.A. are very different from my NYC brides, same thing with our Midwest brides and International brides - none of which usually share a Southern Aesthetic.
How can you make sure that the artists you are working with understand what you want?
Talk to them! Here are some questions you should consider asking your artist:
Do you have experience with beauty ideals from different regions?
Have you done many destination weddings?
Have you worked in any other regions, with any other clients of varying backgrounds?
Are you comfortable creating a look that reflects my regional or cultural heritage?
If your artist is comfortable with working with different styles, it will show in both their portfolio and understanding of terms. As an example, we are comfortable placing tikka, as well as creating looks that work with a tea ceremony - this is thanks to our many wonderful brides over the years that we have worked with from all over the world.
