Throwback Thursday | Ashley + Amanda | A New Orleans Wedding
Ashley and Amanda’s December wedding in New Orleans was so much fun to be a part of. They had an elegant ceremony followed by a exciting reception at Felicity Church. Every special moment from the romantic first look to the festive bubble send off was captured perfectly by Mateo & Company.
The Proposal:
How did you meet?
Ashley and Amanda met through mutual friends playing on a co-ed flag football team. Well, Amanda played; Ashley just watched and cheered on the team. They went on one beach vacation with a group of friends, and the rest was history!
The Proposal
Ashley thought they were meeting a friend to film a few shots for a documentary he was filming. But, Amanda had other plans. She got down on one knee in City Park (in white jeans in the mud — true love) and popped the question. Ashley of course said yes, and the whole thing was caught on video! The proposal was followed by a surprise party with family and friends.
Wedding Prep:
All the ladies prepared for the big day in the comfort of their monogram robes — just one of the many lovely gifts from the brides. They even had a bridesMAN join the fun in his matching satin PJs!
Ashley and Amanda’s wedding prep was in the heart of New Orleans at the gorgeous Hilton Riverside hotel. The brides decided to stay in separate rooms with their wedding parties. They used one room for hair and makeup and one for pictures and getting ready. Mandy with Amanda Price Events and the wedding party made sure to maneuver them from room to room so they wouldn’t see each other before the first look!
Both brides were absolutely stunning with their flawless “wedding day natural” makeup looks by Haylee and Bailey with Verde Beauty Studio.
The Details:
What were your special details or parts of the wedding that were specific to you?
We knew we wanted greenery with white florals and pops of gold metallics. We wanted to keep it simple, classy and elegant. We have a friend who is an amazing artist that painted our welcome sign and a sign for Amanda’s whiskey lounge on the balcony!
What did you choose to do as your favors?
We chose light up Christmas necklaces and Santa hats (awesome for pictures), coozies and bubbles for our send off!
The Attire:
Ashley wore a beautiful gown from Town & Country Bridal and Amanda wore a sleek white jumpsuit from White House Black Market.
Both brides had “something borrowed” from Ashley’s Matron of Honor — a hairpiece for Ashley and beaded belt for Amanda.
What made you choose where you got married?
We wanted something that was classic with old New Orleans charm. The wood floor, exposed brick walls and stained glass at Felicity were perfect! The space was also ideal for a ceremony and reception in one location.
Did you incorporate any wedding traditions from you or your partner’s families?
It is a tradition in Amanda’s family to high five her uncle when walking back down the aisle — which was a success. Our sweet friend and bridesmaid also gifted us small framed photos of our grandparents to place on our bouquet and have close on our wedding day. Not a tradition, but my nephew (who walked me down the isle) and our ushers surprised us with a choreographed dance just after our first dances that we will always remember!
