Wedding Wednesday | Kate Holladay | A Baton Rouge Wedding
Kate and Juan tied the knot last March in Downtown Baton Rouge. They said “I do” at Louisiana’s historic Old State Capitol, followed by a celebration in the beautiful ballroom at Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. Studio Tran did an excellent job at capturing every little detail of their big day.
THE PROPOSAL:
How did you meet?
We met playing indoor soccer. Kate’s team had just finished playing and Juan’s team needed extra players so Kate joined as she knew some other people on Juan’s team.
The Proposal
We went to Nashville to go to Bonnoroo the next day to see Kate’s favorite artist. Juan brought Kate to the levee in downtown Nashville and proposed there.
WEDDING PREP:
Kate and her bridal party got ready for the big day at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center on Lafayette St in Downtown Baton Rouge. They wore adorable floral PJs from David’s Bridal. Kate gifted her bridesmaids gorgeous bracelets from Kendra Scott.
The team from Verde Beauty Studio, which included Bobbi, Amber and Alyssa, did a beautiful job on the glam for these gorgeous ladies!
THE ATTIRE:
Kate’s classic updo and natural makeup paired perfectly with her lovely gown and gorgeous cathedral length veil from Blush Bridal. She accessorized with jewelry from Kendra Scott, a stunning engagement ring from Anton’s Jeweler and a special ring from her grandmother. Juan complemented this timeless look well with his traditional black suit from Macy’s.
THE DETAILS:
What made you choose where you got married?
We wanted everything downtown so people could easily walk from place to place an ego out after the reception. We also wanted a view of the river.
What were your special details or parts of the wedding that were specific to you?
We worked with the bride’s uncle as our minister which was special to us. We also were able to have readings in Spanish and English to include the groom’s family from Honduras.
What did you choose to do as your favors?
Zapps chips and pralines. We also had wedding cake to-go boxes!
Did you incorporate any wedding traditions from you or your partners families?
We had a second line from the ceremony to the reception to encompass Louisiana culture and get the party started. We also used details throughout the wedding to incorporate both Spanish and English.
ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES:
What is one thing you wish you would have known pre-wedding?
How quickly everything would pass by, from getting ready to the ceremony to the reception…it all flew!
Did you rock a #hashtag?

Words of Advice for future brides?
As common as it sounds, truly don’t stress about the small details because no one will notice things that went wrong. Also, if you are shy like me, when you walk out of the ceremony and are overwhelmed with hellos and warm greetings, grab your spouse and go to the place at the reception you feel most comfortable or want to be (we went to the dance floor). People that want to say hello will come to you.
